John Zerafa, founder of FreightZone Malta Logistics, has been invited by JCtrans Academy to share his insights into the European freight forwarding market and the opportunities for stronger China–Europe logistics partnerships.
Drawing on more than 38 years of experience in international freight forwarding, including eight years living and working in Ningbo, China,Mr. Zerafa offers a practical perspective on the challenges and opportunities shaping today’s logistics industry.
In his eight-minute video presentation, he examines how geopolitical developments, previous Red Sea disruptions, changing shipping routes and evolving customs requirements are reshaping supply chains between China and Europe.
He also highlights the growing importance of multimodal transport, including ocean freight, rail and air cargo, alongside challenges in e-commerce, oportunities in specialised logistics, project cargo and European warehousing and distribution.
A central theme of his presentation is the importance of selecting the right European partners. Beyond competitive rates, successful cooperation depends on local market knowledge, customs expertise, operational reliability and clear communication.
Drawing on his extensive experience in China, Mr John Zerafa emphasises that sustainable business relationships are built on mutual understanding, trust and a shared commitment to delivering results.
He also highlights Malta’s strategic position in the Mediterranean as a potential logistics link connecting Europe, Asia and North Africa.
Through his contribution to JCtrans Academy, Mr Zerafa shares a clear message with Chinese freight forwarders seeking to expand their European presence: long-term success depends not simply on moving cargo, but on building reliable partnerships that create lasting value.
At FreightZone Malta Logistics, this philosophy remains central to the company’s approach to international freight forwarding and its commitment to connecting Chinese partners with European markets.
